Monitoring space- time dynamics of soil chemical properties to improve soil management and environmental quality, Proceedings of a workshop organized in the frame of the bilateral scientific and technological cooperation between Flanders and Hungary. Ghent, 8-9 December 2005. Between 2003 and 2005, a bilateral scientific and technological cooperation project was granted by both the Research Fund of the Ghent University and the Hungarian Science and Technology Foundation. In the frame of this exchange project several short and long (up to 3 months) visits were conducted by researchers between the Department of Soil management and Soil Care of the Ghent University, Belgium, and the Research Institute for Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest, Hungary. This led to intensive collaboration, publications and even the defense of a PhD at Ghent University under a joint promotership. Near the end of this project a joint workshop was organized at the Ghent University and this volume contains the proceedings of the papers presented at this workshop. The wide range of topics covered indicates that this collaboration did not focus on a very narrow field of research, quite the contrary.
